In Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana

4 Days in Punta Cana’s best beach!

I have a strict rule with all-inclusive resorts and that’s to always, and only stay at the Moon Palace (or any Palace Resort, really) but… we broke this rule a little over 1 year ago and gave this resort a try. After our 3rd time visiting, I think it’s safe to say we liked it! Book it by clicking HERE

Punta Cana is a very popular all-inclusive destination, but not everyone has a good experience here. I think that is mostly based on the hotel you end up picking for your trip. Like anywhere in the world, there are many options to choose from and it can become overwhelming very quickly when you have THAT many options. Luckily, I have stayed in some of these and can shed some light on hotels like this one that could hopefully aid your decision making. Basically, if it’s a Dreams Resort or a Palace Resort… book it!

My Full Review of Dreams Macao Beach:

All-Inclusive Resort: Pretty much every hotel in Punta Cana is an all-inclusive. This is a great vacation option for families or large groups because there’s 1 set price and you don’t have to worry about cost of food or drinks while you’re there. Your only worry will be which of the many restaurants you will pick for dinner that night.

Rooms: The rooms are absolutely stunning, spacious, and perfectly equipped for a magnificent stay. See for yourself below:

Preferred Club Junior Suite Swim Out Room
  • Preferred Club: The first time we stayed at this resort we decided to do an “upgrade” to the preferred club level rooms with a swim out room. The second and third time around, we also upgraded to preferred club level but we did not do the swim out. I think the price difference was $100 per stay (4 nights) for pool vs. no pool but we never really used it so we didn’t think it worth it. Last week, they charged us $150 for the preferrer club upgrade for our 3 night stay ($50/day) per room.
  • What’s Included (click here for more info):
    • Access to Preferred Club Lounge and Bar – Personalized check-in and check-out, continental breakfast service, afternoon hot and cold hors d’oeuvres, exquisite desserts and premium liquors, and complimentary computer access
    • Preferred Club Suites in Premium Locations
    • Upgraded Mini-bar
    • Upgraded Bath Amenities
    • In-room Tablet
    • Dedicated Beach Area
    • Exclusive Bar and Adults-only Saltwater Pool
    • Exclusive Family Pool Section
    • Special Spa and Resort Store Discounts

PRO TIP: If you’re going to upgrade then DO IT AT THE RESORT, IN PERSON. it’s waaaaaay cheaper than doing it when you book online through their site or even through Expedia.

Adult Only Preferred Club Pool

Food: The resort has 6 specialty restaurants, 1 buffet, 1 outdoor grill, 1 cafe, and even a food truck at the water park. They all vary on opening times for breakfast/lunch/dinner and you can click here for more info: Food at Dreams Macao.

  • One of the specialty restaurants, Oceania is only for “preferred club” guests. Their cannelloni is amazing!
Cannelloni at Oceania
Himitsu – Asian Cuisine
El Patio – Mexican Cuisine
  • At the French restaurant you have to try the lamb chomps, they’re delicious!

If you’re celebrating any special occasions you could also request private dinners on the beach for an extra charge. You get to pick the menu, they will serve you drinks and as always the service is astounding!

Drinks: There is a total of 6 bars and 1 additional preferred club bar. The bars serve drinks from 10 am onward (all the bars have different closing times). We had great experiences at all the bars (& yes, we tried them all), mostly because the bartenders are just so kind and always willing to make you just about anything you wanted.

Beach: The most picturesque beach in Punta Cana, no doubt. Clear blue water with a cliffside backdrop.

Pools:

Spa: We had a pretty big group going our first visit to the hotel and were able to get a great discount for all of us at the spa. We did sauna, steam room, cold plunge, hot tub, and couples massages all for under $100 each. Rule of thumb in Dominican Republic is never agree to the first price they give you, you must negotiate that number! For more on the different spa packages click here: Spa by Pevonia.

Water Park: There are 7 slides to choose from as well as a lazy river! Some of the slides I would say are definitely for adults or teenagers but there is also a smaller waterpark area for younger kids. This is likely your farthest walk in this resort since it is located furthest away from the beach, pools, and main restaurants. But not to worry, there’s a food truck (with yummy tacos) and even a small bar here so you won’t go hungry or thirsty!

Children’s Waterpark

Gym: Your average resort gym, it does the job…if you go.

Desires Sports Bar and Nightclub: There’s a pool table, lot’s of TVs and a great DJ playing every night! Usually once the shows are over around 10pm this place starts to come alive. We enjoyed coming here after dinner and nightly shows. P.S. it’s also a great place to burn off some dinner calories dancing!

Entertainment/Activities: There are many different games and activities going on throughout the day at the main pool and beach areas. Every night, there is also a different themed show taking place. You can find all of the daily activities and information on the bulletin boards posted by each pool and in the main lobby. Click here for more information.

There is also a kids club with video games etc. and tennis courts!

DO NOT MISS THE MAGIC SHOW!

Arcade: There’s 4 bowling lanes, VR rooms/games, paintballing, and more for the kids and family to enjoy!

Extra Activities/Tours:

The hotel is beautiful, the amenities are great, but the real reason we keep coming back time and time again is the AMAZING staff at this resort. We’ve cultivated personal relationships with many of the staff members from Dreams Macao because the level of service and beyond that the genuine care they gave us since our first visit was unparalleled.

As a testament to the level of service you will get… here are some photos from my birthday and what they prepared for me completely free of charge:
